Dear Parents,

This week we will be learning about:

Literacy / History
Causes of the Great Fire and the Plague. Comprehension and reading skills will be developed through written and oral activities. The children will retell the main happenings involved in each event.
Character studies will be built up of major characters discussed and studied in recent weeks focusing on descriptive language to build up a visual picture and elaborate on aspects of character supported by examples from historical stories.
Ar/a phoneme – father / grass.

Numeracy
Find totals of sets of coins
Find totals of sets of coins: relate to adding three or more numbers
Pay an exact sum using smaller coins up to £2
Count on and back in 1s, 10s or 100s
Begin to recognise odd and even numbers up to at least 50

Science
This week we are beginning our electricity topic. We are asking all the children to bring in a torch to take part in a ‘Light Fantastic Show’.

Art
We are continuing our work on Mondrian – last week the children experimented with colours this week a choice of medium will be provided.

ICT
Further use of geometric shapes in the Paint and Draw package in picture making.

Water
Please ensure that your child has a water bottle for use during the day in school.
