NEW POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR INITIATIVES

‘SCHOOL MITZVAH AWARD’

Following the launch of the ‘Mitzvah Award’ last week, children were presented with certificates during assembly. The award system has been created through consultations involving representatives of the whole school as a vehicle to encourage positive behaviour.
The award system works by introducing a focus mitzvot every week during whole school assembly. Children have to demonstrate to teachers that they are trying really hard to carry out that mitzvot throughout the following week. Teachers then have to nominate a pupil from their class to receive the mitzvah award.

Weekly Mitzvah awards for:-
• Kind words and actions
• Having good manners
• Being positive
• Being helpful
• Keeping the school tidy
• Playing nicely with others
• Taking turns and sharing
• Being honest
• Caring for others
• Being a good friend

Weekly winners also receive a leaf bearing their name and the focus mitzvot. During the assembly they place their leaf onto the tree which forms the focal point in the hall. At present the tree is bare but throughout the year will be filled with leaves representing childrens’ good deeds. This will be a stunning sight as well as a symbolic feature.

JUNIOR WEEKLY RAFFLE

Children that have produced a fantastic piece of work or demonstrated great effort are being awarded raffle tickets for their achievements. During Mondays junior assembly a draw will take place giving raffle ticket winners the opportunity to receive a certificate and a small prize. The remaining tickets will be retained and re-entered into a further draw at the end of the half term.
The weekly winners will have their outstanding efforts on display outside the school office for all to see clearly demonstrating to other children examples/ expectations of outstanding practice.

PRAISE PADS

All teachers have received King David Praise Pads containing a selection of notelets that can be awarded and sent home to parents in recognition of their child’s effort and achievements. Lets hope many are awarded by teachers!!

As always, if you have any further ideas and suggestions- please arrange to meet with me.

JUNIOR GOLDEN TIME

Children in the juniors have been enjoying 30 minutes of Golden Time on a Friday afternoon as another way to encourage good behaviour. During this time they celebrate their excellent behaviour by having the option of extra play time or time in the classrooms to play games and listen to music.

Children not following school rules may have their allocation of Golden Time reduced. It was made clear to all children how Golden Time could be lost due to unacceptable behaviour as they move up the staged ‘Ladder of Consequence’.
